Courses in The Classroom bring Steve’s training right to you — no matter where you live!
I had worked with a 97-year old who had lost the ability to move her left ankle, yet I could move it for her. This was a software issue not a hardware issue. Over the years she had developed a disconnect between her sensory nerves and motor nerves and the sensory and motor cortices of the brain.
We never want to lose the ability for our brain to create joint actions. This occurs when there is a memory loss of how certain muscle groups feel and how to control them. If these lines of communication become compromised, there is less of a chance of living independently.
In this course we are going to create joint actions from the hips down to the toes. As we perform these moves we are going to sense what is happening in our body.
We are going to work on keeping the lines of communication open. If we do not move the body using all the available joint actions, over time we will lose the ability to do so.
As we age and move less switches start to turn off. Let’s turn them back on.
