“After my double lung transplant I was taking Steve’s breath works class. Jerry recommended I try your men's fitness class. This class has helped me lower my blood pressure by 25 points, I have raised my oxygen saturation to 98–100%. When I go to the lung clinic for a check up my spirometry number have increased every time the last 2 years. Thank you, Steve, for that. Since attending your men's fitness class. I have improved my balance, strength, the speed I can walk, the length of my step... And most of all my confidence in moving around in any surroundings. Thank you.

“Had Steve only been my tenth grade geometry teacher perhaps my future could have been greatly different. Fortunately for me and the countless others who have taken his classes over the past six years, our golden years have been incredibly rewarding. Steve leads his classes with humor, patience and never ending wisdom. When one method is not working, he always finds a way for us to be successful.
I thank Steve for providing me with a wide variety of solutions to stabilize my balance, feel more secure in my abilities and improve my overall health.”

“If you are thinking of taking Steve’s class or subscribing to his videos, you’re going to receive a unique approach to exercising. We have done everything from dragging chains across the floor to different patterns of walking on a floor ladder.
We also box with Steve to a specific patterns. All of this helps with memory, and the overall experience is absolutely wonderful. Everything he does is a little bit different than your normal classes. Try it out!”

“I met Steve two years ago when he was giving a tour of our senior center gym. He touched on his philosophy regarding training and the aging process.
His unique approach to health and fitness piqued my curiosity. I became a client and I have never looked back. Steve is always evolving and through his motivation and methods I will never regard myself in terms of being “old” again.
He emphasizes strength, balance and movement. Steve makes it challenging but also keeps it fun by using aides such as rope flow and boxing (two of my favorites).
I have seen myself and others thrive under his tutelage. I am in awe of what we have accomplished through his teaching and encouragement.”

“Before I began working with Steve, I had no concept of the hazards of aging. I am in my late 70’s and Steve has made me aware the biggest threat to my well-being could be a fall!
After a comprehensive evaluation of my posture and balance, Steve created a series of corrective exercises designed to lessen my shortcomings in staying erect. For example, how the upper body leaning too far forward of the lower body creates a possibility of stumbling on a curb, or stumbling up or down stairs.
He created a set of exercises to correct that misalignment as well as giving the advice that always holding on to the railing when climbing or descending stairs will greatly reduce the chances of falling.
Steve also pointed out the need to maintain the ability to rise from a sitting position without help from the hands.
After training with Steve for over two years, I have gained confidence in my ability to maintain my posture and balance, and prevent a devastating fall!
“I can now walk on hills and slopes with better balance.
I am no longer afraid walking around in my backyard.”

“I went into class with back pain, a limp, and difficulty sleeping at night due to the discomfort.
Now I am able to get a restful sleep, the limp is gone, as is much of my back pain. I am standing straighter and have more strength.”

“He started by creating space between the five lumbar vertebrae. Then he strengthened the muscles around the inflamed area.
My pain is gone, mobility has increased, and I sleep better.”

After three left hip replacements and 12 years in a wheelchair and walker, Martha had reached the limits of her insurance and physical therapy. And she was not ready to be confined to a room in her home. This is her journey over the last 14 months.
TIRE PULLING — HIP EXTENSION EXERCISE
Walking backwards with the tire turns on the gluteal muscles which turn off while sitting. It is good for strength, balance, combating muscle loss, increased bone density, and back and knee pain.
“Here you’ll see Bevie, age 87, she is getting into hip extension. When we sit we are in hip flexion, the glutes and muscles of the butt shut off and it causes instability balance-wise. The 20# chain and tire she is harnessed to give her a little added resistance, getting her glutes really activated.
Bevie also travels extensively and takes tap dancing classes. This girl is a total beast.” — Steve Avellino

“I have been enrolled in Steve’s classes for more than three years — I cannot begin to tell you how much they have helped me.
I am able to do so much more than I ever thought I would. I cannot believe I can walk on a balance beam. It is wide and only an inch off the ground, but it’s something I would never have been able to do before this
I exercise more than I ever did before. I have purchased some exercise equipment and I use it.
Steve’s classes and exercises are fun and never overwhelming. If you can’t do something, There is a suggestion of what to do instead.
While it seemed we have learned exercises for every part of our body, Steve always finds more and they’re always useful.
Steve says that we’re turning on switches and I really believe him. I am so much more agile than ever before. I can walk on an agility ladder and do different patterns. Even if I don’t do them for a while, I can still do them.
Steve’s health tips are very useful and I have tried quite a few of them with success.
Thank you Steve for all you’ve done for me.

He is always so kind to everyone in the class and gives everyone sincere encouragement.
He is the best!’

“She was a high fall risk. We used corrective exercise to “wake up” her rhomboids and mid-trapezius in her upper/mid back. I spoke with her six-months ago, and she has not fallen in over a year.

“My mother is 98, and I am 75. Steve has improved our ability to walk, stand, sit, and isolate the parts of our bodies that need special attention.”

“The other day I tripped over something and I didn’t fall.
This would not have happened before I started exercising with Steve.”

“Thanks to the Movement Snacks on your website I was reminded to pause and then move my body, especially during stressful job moments. I sit a LOT (probably too much) for my work and was beginning to feel the weight of inactivity. I watched the video and set a 60 minute alarm on my phone. Every time it goes off, i stand up and do a movement. Starting to see improvements in just a couple days of consistent practice. Thank you Steve!”
